you can email any team via yahoo. I have been emailing people to let them know their pick is up.

Its kind of a pain though, I would rather just have an email with everyone's address on it and simply click "reply all" and say "done." whenever I finish my draft pick. If we all do this, it should be pretty fast.

I think the best solution to not drafting players who are not currently in the yahoo database is to create a farm team that is kept on record here on the message boards, say 2 per team if you want to keep the same number as last year.
After this draft is complete you could do a prospect draft, using the same order as the normal draft, and have a few rounds where you select such prospects. We could keep the 60 game rule in tact in terms of that once a player has played at least 60 games in the NHL he must be moved from your farm roster to your official club roster or he is lost to waivers. Also, if a rookie who is in the database on yahoo doesn't make the team or gets sent down to the ahl in season you could send him to your farm team and simply adjust your farm team roster (drop a player you drafted in the prospect draft). Any player who belongs to someone's farm team wouldn't be eligible for addition to anyone else's roster at the big club level.
Once we know if a farm team would be created, I would also then suggest removing the extra roster slots we have on yahoo that are meant to be saved for rookies. People broke this rule last year as you see a large number of teams only have 13 keepers but had full rosters.
Also, in fairness to Reggaetonz, I would just assign his first round pick in the prospect draft to be neiderreiter. If he had known this he could have easily elected to go with Hudler who is no longer a possibility. That way if Nino makes the isles and goes into the database he could then simply waive a player from his big club and bring nino up from his farm and select a different prospect to take his farm slot.

Dennis did say not to select players not in Yahoos draft list prior to draft. So I dont think he should get Nino by default if a prospect draft occured however, I do feel he should own the rights to him considering he could be added any day to Yahoo. A roster spot would be open for him. This would have to be done now in case the next gm drafting wants Sutter. I know Travis does!!!!

so... if we are having a 2 round rookie draft AFTER this draft is complete, I should have first pick in it as well.. so, should I repick and select Hall in the rookie draft?
this is the most unorganized league ever..lol

Sutter is the bomb diggity!
Anyways, I think what Crispy is proposing is too complex.
We have a 24 man roster. If he selects El Nino and he's not in the yahoo DB, who cares? We'll have it noted in his roster here and he'll just have to keep 1 of his 24 man slots empty until he fills it with Nino. Easy peazy.

dynamo - you would have the first selection. Hall is in the yahoo database already, so you have nothing to worry about, he is an "eligible" player to be drafted.
Travis, multiple teams violated this rule last year in terms of filling a spot that was specifically meant for a "rookie" with someone who was not. I am just making that suggestion to remove the extra roster slots if you have a farm established because it would help enforce a rule that was broken, repeatedly.
I fail to see how moving a player who is or isn't in the NHL up and down from the farm to roster is complicated.
Whatever people want to do is fine with me, all I ask is it be done within the confines of the rules laid out by the commissioner.

'yahoo eligable' is bullshit in reality. i could have not spent my first pick on Hall and could have targeted someone else and taken Hall with the first prospect pick.
i think Dennis should enter our keepers into yahoo as an offline draft and keep updating it..
OR..
Hand over the yahoo commish duties over to MTK and let him update the draft to keep it moving. This pace sucks.

Well, if it was a live draft you or anyone else would be able to draft Hall. You wouldn't be able to draft Nino Neiderreiter. Hall wouldn't last to the prospect draft if it was done after the regular draft. Someone would pick him since he is in the database and able to be picked!!!
That is the only rub. Make more sense?

The tricky thing about even considering a prospect draft is that you would have to have a set criteria in writing. I could see people drafting 16 year old kids who have the potiental to go top three in draft 3 years from now. It could get out of control. Maybe an age limit or something? Just a can of worms I rather not open personally.

It will never be a live draft. Dennis mentioned this before that we have a 10 round draft and some teams have 11 draft picks some have 8, Yahoo has no way of handling that.
Dennis can, however, put the taken players onto their respective teams right now (since he has to eventually do that anyways) and then we can easily use Yahoo's available player list to draft from, but the picks would still have to made here and Dennis would still have to manually add each one to it's respective team.
